Based on the latest news from Techcrunch, Apple has acquired Metaio headquartered in Munich, Germany, in 2013 ago. Metaio which has a number of branches in major cities in the US such as San Francisco, California, New York, and the other is a company developing software technologies AR.
Circulation of the document that contains the confirmation of the acquisition by Apple on Twitter Metaio further strengthen the acquisition news Metaio. Not only that, on the official site pages Metaio announced it was no longer operating its services. As reported by the same source, Apple itself is reluctant to confirm information related to the acquisition of Metaio. But as usual, they just give the same statement when they acquired a small company.

Following the acquisition of Metaio, Apple previously spread some vacancies for the position of Virtual Reality application developers. Furthermore Apple is also known to have formed a team consisting of a small number of developers to develop the project AR.
Metaio AR technology is claimed to be Apple used in Apple Maps and other iOS applications. It could be that Apple will announce the AR features in Apple's new Maps in iOS 9 in the WWDC event later
