Google Announces Major Rivals Apple iBeacon

Bluetooth-based technology that enables iOS devices to communicate with each other in the room iBeacon now getting serious opponent of Google, the originator of Android.


As reported by 9to5Mac, Google has just announced its latest innovation called Eddystone will allow Android and iOS devices communicate with each other easily.

Although similar to iBeacon that only connect to the IOS device, Eddystone have differences in terms of any devices it supports. In addition to open-source, Google's innovation is compatible with all Android devices and devices that support Beacons, including iOS devices.

Eddystone is open source and designed to be easily extendable, compatible with any device which supports the use of beacons. A new API announced alongside Eddystone, compatible with iOS and Android devices and available to Android developers today (iOS support forthcoming), uses inaudible sound emitted from device speakers and heard from other devices using their microphones to determine when other smartphones and tablets are nearby so data can be transmitted between them. 

iBeacon itself is that will allow iPhone users to search for items in supermarkets quickly because he will tell the location. Not only retail stores alone, iBeacon widely used in sports arenas and exhibition technology, and music festivals in the US.
